The story
Navillus Guitars was founded by Dan Sullivan and Wyatt Mitchell in 2018. Located in Dock 6 Collective alongside some of Chicago’s leading custom millwork and furniture manufacturers, Navillus brings an eye for modernist design to the art of luthiering.
NECK-THROUGH DESIGN AND PREMIUM STANDARDS
A three piece laminated neck-through build creates a unified instrument. Gotoh tuners, bridge, and ferrules; Rio Grande pickups; CTS pots; kiln dried Hard Maple or African Mahogany wood bodies come standard.
SMALL BATCH MANUFACTURING = OPTIONS
Inlay or No? Gloss lacquer finish or distressed hand applied oil finish? Mahogany or Maple body? Pau Ferro or Maple fret board? In addition to the “standard options” our process allows for customization without many of the associated retooling costs and upcharges.
UNIQUE STYLE
First impression of the Navillus1 is probably the unique body and headstock shape, at once modern and traditional. Second look reveals a refreshing lack of superfluous accoutrements, which carries through to the hardware and interface: a single knob controls the volume and tone; strings pass through the body removing any need for a tailpiece. No visible fasteners on the front of the guitar.
